Quantity planning

Measure once. Plan with a little room.

Build a material estimate before sending a product inquiry.

Start with the net area

For a rectangular room, multiply length by width in feet. Add the room totals. Split an irregular room into rectangles and take care not to count the same area twice. You can also enter an existing square-foot estimate directly.

Allow for cuts and layout

The calculator begins with a 10% waste allowance as a planning assumption. Edit that allowance for your project with your installer. Room shape, pattern, product instructions and the installer’s measurements can change the quantity needed.

Round up to cartons

When verified coverage is available, divide estimated material by square feet per carton, then round up to a whole carton. The resulting coverage may exceed the initial estimate. For example, 100 square feet plus 10% is 110 square feet; at 20 square feet per carton, the planning result is 6 cartons covering 120 square feet.

Confirm before purchase

This is a material planning estimate. It does not include installation, tax, freight or accessories. Ask your installer to confirm quantities before ordering.
